Atul Agnihotri is an Indian actor, producer and director. He began his career as an actor in Bollywood, directed two films and was successful as a film producer. He is best known for his first film Sir (1993), which was the most notable film of his career in starring him as the lead protagonist. His other notable films were Aatish: Feel the Fire (1994) and Krantiveer (1994).

Agnihotri's career dates back to 1983 when he made a brief appearance as a child artist in Pasand Apni Apni (1983) in which his cousin Rati Agnihotri was the heroine. Inspired by his success, and by the memory of his father's short stint as an actor, he made his acting debut with Sir (1994) by Mahesh Bhatt, who emerged as a commercial and critical success.He has appeared in several other films in the 1990s and early 2000s with Krantiveer (1994), Naaraz (1994), Aatish (1994), Chachi 420 (1997), Yeshwant (1997) and Hum Tumhare. Hain Sanam (2002).

In many of these films, he was either the second or one of many heroes. His acting career has slowly died out.After being limited to supporting and supporting roles, Agnihotri gave up acting and turned to filmmaking. He made his debut as a director with the movie Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa in 2004, starring his brother-in-law Salman Khan as well as Bhoomika Chawla and Preity Zinta in lead roles. The film was directed by Siddique, who is also active in Malayalam cinema and who directed the original Malyalam version of the same film. Released on August 31, 2011, the film proved to be a phenomenal and magnificent success; With a budget of about 10 million, it has almost quadrupled (in rupees, about 250 million rupees). It turned out to be one of the most profitable movies of 2011 and made the list of Bollywood blockbusters of all time. In 2014, Agnihotri produced her next film, O Teri starring newcomers Pulkit Samrat, Bilal Amrohi and Sarah Jane Dias.
