Jayasurya (born August 30, 1978) is an Indian film actor, producer, singer and impressionist, who works in the Malayalam film industry. He has appeared in more than 100 films. Jayasurya began his career as a mimic artist and hosted a few television shows on Malayalam channels. He made his acting debut as a feature actor in the 1999 film Pathram. His breakthrough was mute at Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan (2002). In the 2000s, Jayasurya was popular for his comic roles in Swapnakkoodu (2003), Pulival Kalyanam (2003), Chathikkatha Chanthu (2004), Chocolat (2007) and Gulumaal (2009), and at the same time wicked roles in Classmates (2006), Arabikkatha (2007) and Kangaroo (2007). In 2010, Jayasurya was acclaimed by critics for her roles in such films as Cocktail (2010), Janapriyan (2011), Beautiful (2011), Trivandrum Lodge (2012), Apothecary (2014), Iyobinte Pusthakam (2014), Lukka Chuppi (2015), Su .. Su ... Sudhi Vathmeekam (2015) and Captain (2018). He was also popular for comic films, such as Punyalan Agarbattis (2013), Amar Akbar Anthony (2015), Aadu (2015) and Aadu 2 (2018). Jayasurya made his debut as a producer by co-producing the film Punyalan Agarbattis and is also credited as a backing singer in some films. |

Jayasurya was born Jayan Maradu on August 30, 1978 in Mani and Thankam in Thrippunithura, Kerala. He attended St. George U. P. School, Chambakkara and Government Sanskrit High School in Tripunithura. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from All Saints College Ernakulam. After studying, he joined mimicry troops like Kottayam Nazir's Crown of Cochin and Cochin Discovery. Jayasurya anchored music programs on Malayalam television, including Jagathy Vs Jagathy in Kairali TV and Fun-Day Jokepot in Cochin ACV. He also doubled for many serial characters. He has also played minor roles in films, including the comedy artist in Aparanmar Nagarathil. He entered the Malayalam film industry through the film Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan, directed by Vinayan in 2002. He then starred in Pranaya Mani Thooval and Kattu Chembakam. In 2003, he played in one of Swapnakkoodu's leading roles alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kunchacko Boban. Jayasurya's next appearances were Pulival Kalyanam and Chathikatha Chanthu, led respectively by Shafi and Rafi-Mecartin. In 2006, Jayasurya appeared in Kilukkam Kilukilukkam, a sequel to Kilukkam. Jayasurya appeared in Bus Conductor. In Classmates, he played the role of Satheesan Kanjikkuzhi, an aspiring student leader; which was considered one of his revolutionary performances. He was then cast into a negative role in Arabikkatha of Lal Jose. This followed the roles of villains in Hareendran Oru Nishkalankan and Kangaroo. He played various roles in 2007-2008: the romantic lover with a comic touch in Chocolate, the serious policeman in Positive, the humorous drama writer in Shakespeare MA Malayalam, the little thief and antagonist in LollyPop, the supporting role in love in Singapore, and the young politician De Ingottu Nokkiye of Balachandra Menon. |
