Vivek Oberoi is an Indian film actor known for his works exclusively in Bollywood. He made his Hindi cinema debut with the super company of Ram Gopal Varma. His performance in the film earned him Filmfare Awards for Best Male Actor and Best Supporting Actor. He later featured in several notable films that include Saathiya, Masti, Yuva, Kaal, Omkara and Grand Masti. He played as lead actor in Krrish 3. He also played in biographical films such as Shootout in Lokhandwala, Paritala Ravindra in Rakta Charitra and Muthappa Rai in Rai.
Oberoi was born in Hyderabad, Telangana to Punjabi Suresh Oberoi, a Bollywood veteran actor and Tamil mother Yashodhara Oberoi, sister of Rajkumar Mandradiar, originally from Coimbatore, belonging to the Mandradiar family and Palayakottai Pattakarar of Kangeyam, erstwile Polygar leaders of that region .Suresh Oberoi was not an actor at the time of his marriage, but he ran a chain of medical stores that was his family business. He will later join the Film and Television Institute of India. |

Career
Oberoi debuted with the film Company Ram Gopal Varma. He received Filmfare Awards for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. He then starred in action films Road and Dum. In Dum, he played the role of a man trying to be part of the Indian police, but faces many problems with a police inspector.
Then he played in Saathiya, directed by Shaad Ali. The film was a big hit at the box office and earned him a Filmfare nomination in the category of Best Actor. He starred in the comedy Masti . In 2004, he also played in Yuva. In 2005, he starred in the movie Kisna: The Warrior Poet.
In 2006, he appeared in Omkara, an adaptation of Shakespeare's play, Othello. He played the character of Kesu, based on the character of Michael Cassio in the original play. After seeing Oberoi's performance, Gulzar congratulated him.In 2007, he acted as gangster Maya Dolas in the multi-staged Shootout in Lokhandwala.
In 2008, Oberoi performed in Mission Istanbul, conducted by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Ekta Kapoor. He performed the song Apun Ke Saath, produced for the film by Vikas Kohli, at the 2008 International Indian Film Academy Awards.

In 2009, he played a supporting role in the film Kurbaan. In 2010, he appeared in Prince, who failed to receive a good response from the audience, despite initial success at the box office.In the same year, he appeared in Rakht Charitra of Ram Gopal Varma. Here he played the role of Telugu politician Paritala Ravi.
Oberoi is scheduled to star in the movie Bloody Paki, which will be directed by Shaad Ali and Shiva and produced by Mani Ratnam. Vivek Oberoi's Kismat Love Paisa Dilli, released in October 2012, failed to impress audiences and was a box-office failure. Vivek produced a film titled Watch Indian Circus in 2011. |
