Mohan Babu (born Manchu Bhakthavatsalam Naidu) is an Indian film actor, director, and producer, known for his works predominantly in Telugu Cinema .
Mohan Babu was born in Narayanaswamy Naidu and Lakshmamma in the village of Modhugulapalem, near the banks of the Swarnamukhi River. Mohan Babu grew up with his three younger brothers, Ranganath Chowdary, Ramachandra Chowdary, Krishna and his sister Vijaya. After completing primary school in the village of Yerpedu, he attended S.P.J.N.M high school in Tirupati. As a child, Mohan Babu is interested in the stage and actively belongs to the school from the age of 14. His father, a director, liked his son to pursue an academic career. It was during this period that Mohan Babu moved to Chennai and graduated in physical education from the YMCA's Physical Education College.

Mohan Babu began his career as a physical education instructor at YAMCA's Physical Education College for many years. Drawn to the arts as a man and convinced that the film industry was the place for him, Mohan Babu began traveling to many studios based in Chennai in search of opportunities. Finally, in 1969, he had the opportunity to work with the director Lakshmi Deepak as an apprentice marking his entry into the cinematographic industry. He spent several years behind the camera until his thirst for actor and expression brought him onto the screen with the 1974 films Kannavari Kalalu and Alluri Seetha Rama Raju as an actor.
Meanwhile, Mohan Babu was introduced to Dasari Narayana Rao who was then a screenwriter in Tollywood. This would make it the most important event of his career. The first major breakthrough of Mohan Babu as an actor came with the 1975 Swargam Narakam film directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. Dasari threw him as a villain in the film and continued to succeed. It is after this film that his birth name Bakthavatsalam Naidu changed to Mohan Babu. After participating in numerous films as a comic-villain, he played the role of lead actor at Khadi Kalidasu, Ketugadu, Gruhapravesham, Assembly Rowdy, Allari Mogudu and many others. After a success in the Telugu cinema, arts lover Mohan Babu was also attracted by the events of Tamil cinema. After being initiated into the Tamil film industry by Sivaji Ganesan, he appeared in more than 20 Tamil films with a multitude of roles to his credit.
Political Views
Known for his long association with the end of the NT Rama Rao, Mohan Babu campaigned for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) when it was headed by NT Rama Rao and, therefore, joined the party in 1982. Then Mohan Babu received a nomination for Rajya Sabha as a member of parliament representing Andhra Pradesh in 1995. During his six-year tenure with Rajya Sabha, Mohan Babu undertook various projects to develop the Chittoor district, including roads, clean water, sanitation and hygiene.
While serving his mandate on the Rajya Sabha, he was also a member of the Human Resources Development Committee from 1996 to 1997, the Urban and Rural Development Committee and the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. As part of the social forestry program, he has supported a plantation of young trees in many villages with the help of villagers and Vana Samrakshana Samithis. It has also launched programs on health, nutrition and large-scale education for the rural population.
During the drought of Ralayaseema, he visited many villages to face the plight of the agrarian community and offer solutions for disaster management, including crop preservation. During these visits, he also worked to fight the shortage of drinking water in many villages.
After leaving the TDP, Mohan Babu continued his career in the film industry. While he was producing a film titled Sri Ramuliah, he escaped a bombing that killed 23 people and injured 35 others in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
Mohan Babu is also known to have actively participated in improving the living standards of many disadvantaged artists in the South Indian film industry. Currently, Mohan Babu does not actively participate in politics, but there have been many rumors and speculations that he will start his own political party and contribute to society by fighting corruption.
Contributions to education
Mohan Babu created the Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust in 1993.
Today, Sree Vidyanikethan runs the Sree Vidyanikethan International School, Sree Vidyanikethan College, Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College, Sree Vidyanikethan College of Pharmacy, Sree Vidyanikethan College, Sree Vidyanikethan College and Sree Vidyanikethan College for Post Studies -graduation.

Mohan Babu continued his foray into the film industry by wishing to seize opportunities to experience his acting skills. In 1982, Mohan Babu created Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures. Named to his daughter Lakshmi Manchu, the cinema house published Pratigna. The film was very successful and was broadcast in theaters for 100 days.
