Shivanand made her Bollywood debut in 1996. Early in her career, she played in Aditya Pancholi-starrer Zanjeer (1998). Later, she was famous in Tollywood. She played with many great heroes in the Telugu cinema. His Telugu debut was with Chiranjeevi in the movie Master. The film turned out to be a blockbuster and this helped her to win more movies. Later, she played with Nagarjuna Akkineni in the movie Seetharamaraju. The film did a medium business. She also played with Nandamuri Balakrishna in the film Vamsoddarakudu.

She was surrounded by A.B.C.L for the Telugu Rajahamsha movie against Abbas. She also starred in the Yamajathakudu socio-fantasy film with Mohan Babu. In 2000, she played in the film Yuvaraju with Mahesh Babu and Simran Bagga. She performed a song in the Homam movie directed in 2008 and directed by J.D. Chakravarthy.She has a younger sister, Shilpa Anand, who is a well-known film and television actress.
