Dayanand Shetty, also known as Daya Shetty, is an Indian model, film and television actor. He plays the role of Chief Inspector Daya in the Indian television series CID (since 1998).

Dayanand Shetty was born on December 11, 1969 in a Tulu-speaking Bunt family in Katapadi Village of Udupi District of Karnataka State, India to Chandra Prakash Shetty and Uma Shetty. He has two sisters (Naina and Sandhya). He did his B.com from Rizvi College, Bandra. He married Smitha Shetty and they have a daughter.

He is an athlete turned actor because of a leg injury. He was a shot put and a discus thrower, which earned him many awards in these sports. He was the champion of the Maharashtra discus throw in 1994. He has appeared in numerous commercials and has even won prizes as a theater artist. He won the Best Actor award for his role in the Tulu Secret language game.

He then auditioned for the role of CID Officer in 1998 and was the one chosen He is known for his role as Senior Inspector Daya in CID. He is with the actors Shivaji Satam and Aditya Srivastava the main actors of the show. He also wrote for some of the episodes of CID

At CID, Chief Inspector Daya is known for his immense strength, whose name suffices to bring down the hardest of criminals. One of the most famous dialogues of the CID is that of ACP Pradyuman who asks him "Daya darwaaza tod do" (meaning "Daya, break the door"). This dialogue becomes so popular that it is even used in the movie Singham Returns, which is one of the most popular scenes in the film.

In CID, Chief Inspector Daya is also critical in finding clues to resolve the case. Although robust, he is also gentle and friendly, and is always the first to support team members and others when they need it most.

Daya Shetty has appeared in TV commercials, plays and movies. He also won the "Best Looking Guy" vote, directed by Indian television in 2002. He also participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (season 4), soap opera show on dance.
