Priyadarshan is a director, producer, and screenwriter who specializes in comedy films of Bollywood. He has directed more than 90 films in various languages, primarily in Malayalam. Other languages he directed the movie in are Tamil and Telugu. He has worked with other genres too, but he predominantly enjoys producing comedy films. Priyadarshan believes that comedy movies are not for intelligent people. His comedy films tend to awaken the child inside every human; that exactly is the reason that intelligent people have no interest in them as they think rationally.

Priyadarshan has mainly contributed to Malayalam cinema. He introduced high-quality gradient colors on the screen with clear sound and dubbing quality. Hence, he got popular in the industry in the 1980s and 1990s.

Priyadarshan says that making comedy films is not an easy job as one needs to keep in mind the repetition of jokes. He stated in an interview with the PTI that "The technique is the same, plot changes. That's how I navigate. It is difficult, but once you crack it, you feel good about it," he also believes that no matter the language of a person, the one mutual thing among every human is that they enjoy the same type of humor, therefore, he does not feel pressured to make comedy films.

Priyadarshan took a long break, but he recently returned to producing Bollywood films as he believes that the industry lacks humorous movies. Few of his popular comedy films are,
