On 23rd March, 2018, the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and University of Delhi took out a protest march from JNU to the Parliament. They took out the march to protest compulsory attendance and to demand the suspension of professor Atul Johari. The students were stopped and baton-charged by the Delhi Police near INA. Many students were roughed up and their clothes were torn and ripped in scuffle. One of those students is Sheena Thakur, whose photograph of being assaulted by a policewoman went viral, and is now, ironically, facing arrest for assaulting the police.
