Sunny Deol is an actor, director and Indian film producer known for his work exclusively in Hindi cinema. He is the son of veteran actor Dharmendra, and the older brother of actor Bobby Deol and Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Sunny Deol was born Ajay Deol on October 19, 1956 into a Sikh Jat family in the village of Ludhiana in Punjab, India to actor Bollywood Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur.He has a younger brother Bobby Deol and two sisters Vijayta and Ajeeta who are settled in California. Her stepmother is Hema Malini, through whom he has two paternal half-sisters, actress Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. His cousin Abhay Deol is also an actor. He made his debut as a director and producer with Dillagi, in which he also played alongside his brother Bobby.

Career

Deol made his debut in the 1983 romantic film Betaab in which role he was praised and he was nominated for Best Actor at the Filmfare Awards. Deol appeared in Rahul Rawail's Arjun , in which he played the lead role of a young unemployed person. The film became a major success and established Deol's status as an action hero.

In 1986, he appeared alongside his father in Sultanate. In the last years of the decade, he appeared in several tubes including Dacait , Yateem and Paap Ki Duniya.

In 1989, he had consecutive successes with Tridev of Rajiv Rai and ChaalBaaz of Pankaj Parashar. He even won his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor in Rajkumar Santoshi's film Ghayal in 1990. He joined Aditya Pancholi in Vishnu-Devaa. From 1992 to 1997, he resumed success with films like Lootere, Darr, Jeet, Ghatak, Border and Ziddi. In 1999, he made his debut as a director with Dillagi, his brother and Urmila Matondkar.

His first success in the millennium was Anil Sharma Gadar's 2001 film. In 2003, he again teamed up with director Anil Sharma for The Hero: A Spy's Love Story, which also featured Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra.Released on April 11, The Hero was billed as the most expensive Bollywood movie at that time with an estimated budget of 600 million.The film became the third most profitable Bollywood film of the year.Sunny appeared alongside her father Dharmendra and Bobby Deol together for the first time in Apne,and again at Yamla Pagla Deewana.

Deol's first release in 2010 was Neeraj Pathak's crime thriller, Right Yaaa Wrong, which made him play a police inspector.Yamla Pagla Deewana was Sunny's only release in 2011 and was one of the biggest hits of the year.In 2011, he began working with Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru's I Love NY in front of Kangana Ranaut and Mohalla Assi from Chandraprakash Dwivedi in front of Sakshi Tanwar, but for some reason both films were delayed.

For the first time in her career, Sunny lent her voice to the animated film Mahabharata; produced by Jayantilal Gada of PEN India Pvt Ltd. His future business is Bhaiyyaji Superhitt of Neeraj Pathak.His next film, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, released in June 2013, was not appreciated by critics and viewers, although his role in "Paramveer" was appreciated by all.
