Rohatgi was born in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, India. She is the daughter of Veena Rohatgi and Shashank Rohatgi. She has a brother named Gaurav Rohatgi. Career

Rohatgi began her career by participating in the Femina Miss India of the Year contest with Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza. She subsequently represented India as Miss India Tourism in the Miss Tourism World International Contest. There Rohatgi won the coveted title of Supermodel Miss Tourism World.

In 2002, she made her debut with Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai, produced by Harry Baweja. Kareena Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Akshaye Khanna. In 2006, she was offered a song in the corporate film Madhur Bhandarkar, which became one of the songs of the year. This has led Payal to make many scenic performances due to its sudden popularity. She even trained in Kathak with Pandit ViruKrishna, which helped her enormously in her shows.

In 2010, Payal Rohatgi made his theater debut with the play by director and producer Vandana Sajnani entitled Fourplay. She said that she enjoyed working with a female director for the first time in her career. Rohatgi also found theater support quite powerful compared to movies and television.
