UnknKaur began his film career as a leader against Rishi Kapoor in the movie Laila Majnu (1976). Subsequently, she played in tubes like Pati Patni Aur Woh (with Sanjeev Kumar) and Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (with Sachin). She has made a famous team with Mithun Chakravorty in such films as Surakshaa, Tarana, Badhkar Kaun Humse, Aadat Se Majboor, Baazi and Gunahon Ka Devta. She was also one of the heroines of Amitabh Bachchan in Satte Pe Satta. His sister Rubina appeared in Ek Main with Ek Tu against Rajeev Tandon (Raveena Tandon's brother). Ranjeeta was very closely associated with the Rajshri family after producing so many hits like Taraana, Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se, etc. She played with Raj Babbar, Raj Kiran, Deepak Parashar, the twinning was with Mithun Chakraborty. Her last film before her release from the film industry was Gunahon Ka Devta in 1990. She appeared in a few television series in the mid-90s and then took a long break to play.

After fifteen years apart, Ranjeeta returned to the films of the film Anjaane: The Unknown. In 2008, she appeared in Zindagi Tere Naam who brought her together with her co-star Mithun Chakraborty She had also made her television debut a few years ago but withdrew quickly.
