| Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendran (born February 3, 1983), often nicknamed T.R. Silambarasan, Simbu, or STR, is an Indian actor, director, music director, and singer in the Tamil film industry. He is also considered an environmentalist because of his active participation in solving the problem of the Cauvery River between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. He began his career playing child-artist roles in films directed by his father T. Rajendar [8], before his first lead in Kadhal Azhivathillai (2002), under the direction of his father and produced by his mother Usha. Early and personal life Silambarasan was born on February 3, 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as the eldest child of T. Rajendar and Usha Rajendar. He has a younger brother Kuralarasan and his sister Ilakiya. He studied at Don Bosco High School of Education and St.John's International Residential School. Simbu entered the film industry from an early age and played in many of his father's films until 2002, when he starred in Kadhal Azhivathillai, his first leading role as a hero. |

Career
Silambarasan made his acting debut as a child artist in 1984 and starred in Uravai Kaatha Kili of his father T. Rajendar, in which he acted in a friendly appearance. He has also performed in his father's films, including Thangai Paasam Thai, Oru Vasantha Geetham, En Thangai Kalyani, Enga Veetu Velan, Monisha Monalisa, Oru Thayin Sabhatham, Samsara Sangeetham, Shanti Enathu Shanti, Pettredutha Pillai, Thiruvalla and Sabash Babu. In Samsara Sangeetham, Silambarasan danced on a song singing "I'm a little star, Aaaven Naan Super Star". Silambarasan played his first protagonist role in Kadhal Azhivathillai (2002), led by his father. The film was successful. His second film was Dum (2003), which was loosely based on Jagannadh's 2002 film Kannada, Appu, with Puneet Rajkumar. There were mixed reviews but a good run in the theaters. His release, in 2003, Alai, which marked the first collaboration of Simbu and Trisha. Silambarasan had three versions in 2004. The first was Kovil. This film, which deals with the relationship between a Hindu boy and a Christian girl, has become a super hit, but Simbhu has been hailed for his "restrained and matured" performance. It was a box office success. After that, Silambarasan starred in a film called Kuththu, a remake of the Telugu Dil movie. He opened with mixed reviews, but had a successful run in the theaters. His last release in 2004 was Manmadhan, who had good reviews. The film has been described as a good thriller. Silambarasan wrote this film, and also co-wrote the dialogues.
