Career
After a series of unsuccessful box-office films, Vishal chose to create its own production studio and has since produced and worked on profitable projects such as Pandiya Naadu (2013) and Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014). Vishal was elected general secretary of the Nadigar Sangam in October 2015 after initiating a move against the previous committee. He was expelled from the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) for remarks against the council. Later in April 2017, he won the elections and was elected president of the Tamil Film Producers Council. Early life Vishal Krishna was born to G. K. Reddy and Janaki Devi on August 29, 1977. He was born in Chennai. His father was a Telugu and Tamil film producer and his family moved to Chennai. His older brother, Vikram Krishna, produced several Vishal films and had previously starred in films under the pseudonym Ajay. Vishal also has a younger sister Aishwarya. Vishal graduated from Don Bosco Matriculation High School before completing a degree in visual communication from Loyola College in Chennai. Career Vishal helped actor-director Arjun Sarja in his Vedham adventure (2001), and a producer spotted Vishal on the sets of the film and signed it to appear in an acting role in Gandhi Krishna's Chellamae (2004) . Accepting the role, Vishal prepared by joining Koothu-P-Pattarai to perfect his acting skills and played the protagonist role of Raghunandan, whose wife is kidnapped by his childhood friend. A reviewer described his performance as "fit" but "there was a lot to do". His next film was Sandakozhi (2005) with N. Linguswamy, who had previously worked with his father's production company as a deputy director. Vishal was described for having "improved his days of Chellamay" and "clicked as an action hero". Film reporters said he was "the fastest acting hero" of the day. After appearing as himself in Sasi's Dishyum (2006), he appeared in Tarun Gopi's action film, Thimiru (2006). The film opens with mixed reviews, with Vishal praised for his intense performance with a critic who calls his performance "the only force of the film and, to a certain extent, catches the weak scenario and poor characterization." The film became Vishal's third consecutive commercial success, and it began to emerge in Tamil films. His next film, the political drama Sivappathigaram (2006), directed by Karu Pazhaniappan was a financial failure despite favorable criticism. His next film was released in January 2007, Thaamirabharani (2007), the family drama of Hari, and the film has a considerable success at the box office, with good reports in the middle of other large budgets. Later in the year, he appeared in Malaikottai's Boopathy Pandian (2007), a comedy artist. In his first comic role, Vishal has received mixed reviews for his interpretation of critics, with Rediff stating that he is "far from the rather endearing young man of Sandakozhi," while describing his performance as "cringeable." Behindwoods has declared him as an "average entertainer masala-mix". The film took a big opening and was declared a blockbuster, appearing in the top-10 behindwoods box office. In 2008, for the first time, Vishal represented a police officer in Sathyam, which became a box office commercial failure. Then his two films Thoranai (2009) and Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai (2010) were only average sizes. Tags:
