Career

Anand started participating in early-stage beauty pageants and was crowned Miss Ranchi at the age of 13. She was on a diet while in class 10. As a second-year student of NIFT Delhi, she won the Femina Miss India contest in 2003. Her last question in the contest was whether forgiveness is better said than the fact, to which she replied: Divine forgiveness, and we must forgive and move forward to make life better. "She was crowned by the previous winner, Neha Dhupia, and had the chance to represent India at the Miss Universe contest in Panama City, Panama.However, she failed to rank, breaking 11-year series of India in the Top 10 from 1992 to 2002.

In the Miss Universe contest, her national costumes and ethnic dresses were designed by Ritu Kumar, while Ashley Rebello made her evening dresses and western outfits.
