Noor Jehan , also known by his honorary title Malika-e-Tarannum ,was a Pakistani singer and actress who first worked in British India and then in Pakistan. His career lasted more than six decades (1930-1990). She was recognized as one of the greatest and most influential singers of all time, especially in South Asia, and received the honorary title of Malika-e-Tarannum in Pakistan . She mastered Hindustani classical music as well as other musical genres.

With Ahmed Rushdi, she holds the record for giving the floor to the greatest number of film songs in the history of Pakistani cinema. It is estimated that she has made more than 40 films and has sung about 20,000 acts in a career that has lasted more than half a century.

In 1947, Rizvi and Jehan decided to move to Pakistan. They left Bombay and settled in Karachi with their family.

Three years after settling in Pakistan, Jehan starred in her first Pakistani film Chan Wey (1951), opposite Santosh Kumar, which was also her first Pakistani film as a heroine and backing singer.In 1953 and 1954, Jehan and Rizvi had problems and divorced because of personal differences. She kept the custody of the three children of their marriage. In 1959, she married another nine-year-old film actress, Ejaz Durrani.

After she stopped playing, she started singing. She made her debut exclusively as a singer in 1960 with the movie Salma. Jehan traveled to India in 1982 to celebrate the jubilee of Indian films, where she met Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in New Delhi and was received by Dilip Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar in Mumbai. She met all her old heroes and costars, including Surendra, Pran, Suraiya, composer Naushad and others. The Women on Record website said: "Noor Jehan has injected an unparalleled level of passion into singing, but she left for Pakistan."
