Omung Kumar will direct third biopic, Fauja, based on the life of marathon Fauja Singh, also known as Sikh Superman. Fauja Singh is world's oldest marathon runner. The film is based on the book Turbaned Tornado. Earlier, he had directed biopics like Mary Kom (2014) and Sarbjit (2016). Mary Kom, starring Priyanka Chopra won National Film Award for Best Popular Film in 2014. Sarbjit starred Aishwarya Rai and Randeep Hooda which released in 2017.
Fauja will chronicle how 108-year-old Fauja Singh, also known as the Sikh Superman. He stunned the world by shattering a number of records in multiple age brackets as a marathon runner. After making his debut at London marathon in 2000, he has completed the marathon six times at the age of 89. Apart from this he has finished marathons in Toronto, New York and more cities. The screenplay is being adapted from the book Turbaned Tornado by Khushwant Singh. Vipul Mehta is penning the script for the film.
